Overview
Gomukh is mentioned in the Puranas. It is said there that, searching a lost sheep, a boy reached near a glacier in Gangotri, the snout of which exactly looked like the face of a Cow, and thus it got its name ‘Gomukh’ . From then many holy saints, sages, sadhus, hermits, adventure seekers, as well as religious people and adventure seekers also went there to worship the place. It is also rumored that, if anyone visits Gomukh / Gawmukh with evil intentions or polluted body or mind, his ancestors fall in Burning Hell and that person experiences grave horrors and deep melancholy surrounds him.
Tour Plan
Dinner and night stay at Dehradun
We will start our day early from Dehradun to reach Gangotri. We will have breakfast and lunch while travelling. Dinner and night stay at Gangotri.
After having breakfast we will start our trek to Bhujbasa. It’s a 14 km trekking and it will take 6 to 8 hours to reach Bhujbasa. Dinner and a night stay at Bhujbasa.
After breakfast we will start our trek to Tapovan. It’s a 9 km trek. Dinner and night stay at Tapovan.
After breakfast we will start our trek back to Bhujbasa. Dinner and night stay at Bhujbasa.
After breakfast we will start our day out trek back to Gangotri. Dinner and night stay in Gangotri.
After having breakfast we will start our journey towards Dehradun. Dinner and night stay at Dehradun
